Gotcha Day

We have just had our 3rd Gotcha Day. Elizabeth went into school and said "Hey listen up guys, today is a very important day. Today is Gotcha Day. Today mommy, daddy, and me became a family". Oh how wonderful it is to see how this excites her. Wow three years! What an amazing time this has been.

Our first visit with Dr. Holly (2 years old)

Yesterday's visit (5 years old)

She and I spent the day together yesterday and she loved every single minute of it. On our to do list for the day was her 5 year well check. She now weighs 35 pounds and is 41 1/2 inches tall. This is such a far cry from her 17 1/2 pounds she weighed on the original Gotcha day. Gosh, I remember not wanting to put a dress on her because her legs were so very tiny and frail. Now her calves are huge and nothing but muscle! Her overall assessment was good with one exception. Elizabeth didn't do great with the eye chart. We were recommended to get her eyes checked. Over all Dr. Holly was pleased with her progress and suggested we keep doing whatever we were doing.

When Dr. Holly entered the room the first thing she said was "Yesterday was Gotcha Day". Dr. Holly looked at me with a questioning look so I told Elizabeth to explain what that meant. "That's when we became a family!" She had to get a couple of shots and she was so very brave. Before the nurse gave them to her she asked if she could hug her and told her that she loved her. Sweet sweet baby! No tears and she watched the whole thing. Shes becoming such a big girl. She has really matured a lot this last couple of weeks. She has lost all the "toddler" stuff and has completely moved into the "little girl" phase. I'm so very proud of her!
